Training for Pre-Licensed Therapists IN ORANGE COUNTY & LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA

Are you looking for a dynamic training
site in SoCal? Consider SRP.

Your training as a Trainee or Associate can be an amazing experience. But finding the right site can be challenging.

At SRP, you (pre-licensed therapists) will build on your natural inclinations toward attachment and depth work, your own therapy experience, spiritual integration work, education and life experiences. Through supervision and training resources, you then develop and hone the skills needed to help clients experience deep healing, creating a long-term, psychodynamic practice. We celebrate our common threads as a group and also the unique way therapists develop their therapeutic style and areas of focus.

The following information will help you determine if SRP (a 501c3 non-profit organization) is right for you.

SRP can be the training site (in Long Beach and Orange County, California) you’re looking for, if you…

Want the foundation of your practice to be psychodynamic, with enough flexibility to integrate other interventions and theoretical orientations.

Want to develop nuanced spiritual integration. We are sensitive to the breadth of faith backgrounds of our clients. We listen carefully, check our own assumptions and learn to truly support people where they are.

Want a supervision experience where you can honestly explore your countertransference and growth process. Because we value using the “self” of the therapist in the room, the “self” becomes an important part of supervision.

Are comfortable consulting with others, especially your supervisor. When you’re comfortable asking questions, your supervisor can effectively support your growth to new levels.

Have the time and desire to do some extra reading and connecting in the community.

Want to start your local, long-term practice now. Because sometimes we don’t know what we want until we have had a variety of professional and/or life experiences, for many, it’s a second career.

Work well independently. We’re there to train and support you, but you’ll handle all communication with your clients from the initial email, to scheduling sessions, to getting the paperwork. You’ll network with referral sources.

Have not been in personal therapy at the Soul Restoration Project. While we take it as a huge compliment that you might want to work with us(!), it’s an ethical boundary we have to not have former clients on staff.

Here are some things we like about our program:

  • We have a mix of triadic and group supervision.

  • We’re a community of therapists that consults on cases, supports one another, and learns together.

  • We learn how to connect with the community, online and IRL.

  • We have a network of referral sources and a good reputation among churches, ministries and beyond.

  • We have a range of specialties

  • We’re pretty flexible and encourage ongoing growth and excellence.

Here are some nitty-gritty details:

We ask for a commitment of the full time of your traineeship or 18 months if you’re an Associate. We value long-term therapy (where appropriate) and hope you will be available for your clients whether at SRP or elsewhere.

Group supervision is currently Wednesdays from 10:30-12:30 in Santa Ana.

Therapists typically see clients at both locations as well as virtually. Trainees are expected to offer some evening as well as weekend availability.

Prior to the start date of seeing clients, there are three onboarding meetings for the purposes of administrative and clinical training. This onboarding process will then continue in the form of triadic or individual supervision.

Our traineeship is unpaid. Associates are paid, W2 employees.

At any given time, SRP has 1-3 Trainees and 7-8 Associates.
